Happy Birthday Me!
So when your birthday is the day before Halloween what do you do? Wake up and carve a pumpkin with the kids of course! I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday morning than hanging out with the kids getting ready for Halloween. So much Halloween-y fun.
We started with a pumpkin and drew on his face.
Oh Jack, time for your lobotomy! Muhaha
Everybody got a chance to scrape some of Jack's brains out.
And done. Hello Jack, it's almost Halloween!

Birthday/Anniversary Fun
Tomorrow, October 30th, is my birthday and my wedding anniversary. Yup, I got married on my birthday....the day before Halloween. My lovely wife took me out for dinner tonight, we went to The Reel Club. I had a great time and the food was spectacular.
Ok, so what did we eat. Don't worry, I'll tell you.
We started with Parmesan crusted scallops. A great beginning to the meal. It was scallopy buttery goodness. Oh man was it good.
We also had a shrimp tempura roll. All that can be said was Soooooo good.
Dinner for me was grilled rainbow trout with melted leeks, tiny bits of green beans and almonds. I was so happy with my choice.
Karen had yellow fin tuna steak with spice roasted red pepper sauce. I had a bite, it was awesome.
Dessert was extra fun. Karen ordered butterscotch creme brulee while I had some espresso. But that wasn't all I had.
I had a warm valrhona chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and sea salt caramel. While it was out of this world the best part was the Happy Birthday surprise that came with the dessert.
So that's it. A wonderful meal, a wonderful night. Thank you honey bear.

Being a Cubs fan...
Being a Cubs fan isn't easy. No, I'm not talking about the drunk idiot sitting in the bleacher on a nice warm 85 degree day. That guy, he's not a fan. I'm talking about the real Cubs fans. The people who grew up going to Wrigley to see their Cubs play. Staying at the game despite the fact the Pirates already scored 18 runs and Doug Dascenzo was coming in to pitch. Yeah, I actual saw that. The fans who care about the Cubs all 365 days of the year. For that fan, it's not easy.
No, I don't want to see my team lose every year. Yes, I get extremely frustrated with the team, management and the baseball gods. Yes, I still go out to games when I can. As a fan base we don't need to have empty seats to send a message. They already know and are trying. Up to this point they just have been getting it wrong, very wrong. Hopefully that's all changed now.
But as I'm sitting on my couch watching the World Series I couldn't escape it. Up comes this:
You can't watch baseball for very long without being reminded how long the Cubs haven't had a World Series Win. To be honest I hadn't watched a single game of the World Series until tonight. I wanted no part in seeing the Cardinals do anything other than choke. I thought tonight was the night they would lose so I tuned in. Hell Yeah seeing the Cards lose would make me happy. But no, they had to go and win and be all dramatic. And of course I had to be reminded of 103 years of......Oh forget it. C'mon Ranger, win tomorrow. Go Rangers Go.

Apples
Yup, I got me a nice honey crisp apple right here. Just took a bite. Delicious! Ok, so that's getting a bit creepy but I am in the middle of Phil's great apple craze of 2011. I swear I cant get enough apples. I'm thinking it will last another week or so. Time will tell. Until I cant stand the sight of another apple I might as well enjoy.

And I'll form the head!
So today was pretty boring, not much happening. Hmmm, todays pic? What should......Oh Wait! Have I ever shown you the Voltron picture I got at Wizard World? I don't think I have. Yes, It must be today's picture then. I got this little framed picture, about 2"x3", from Neil Jam. I absolutely love it. It makes me smile.

Halloween Town
Ok, maybe Friday didn't take us to Halloween Town but we did go to another pumpkin patch. This time it was Bengston's Pumpkin Farm. We got together with my parents, sister, other sister and her family for some good pre-Halloween fun. It turned out to be a great night. The kids got to run around the pumpkin patch, ride some rides, see some scary monsters and have all sorts of fun. Nights like tonight are good.
You can't go to a pumpkin farm and not milk a fake cow, right?
Oh, hello Mr. President.
Really, it's not supposed to be but it was damn creepy.
Big slide? Oh you know we did it!
Skeleton band hoedown!
Gotta ride the rides!
