Hey grape jelly, please don't hurt toast!

It's over. Crazy fun but crazy busy month is officially over. Today we had Olivia's school friends, yesterday was the family party and a week before that we ended a two week long vacation. Oh yeah, toss in both girls starting soccer and me coaching one of the teams. Everything went off without hitch. I'm happy but I'm extremely tired. So tired I might talk to the pizza I'm gonna have after I write this. Hey pizza, yeah you, I'm gonna be coming downstairs in a second so don't start eating the popcorn yet. C'mon! I can hear the bag. Dammit, I said wait. Ok, so where was I? Oh yes, ham sandwiches......wait, I meant crazy fun but crazy busy.

So as the dust settled on my weekend what was I left with? Clean up? For sure but that can wait. Super geeked up kids playing with new toys? Oh yeah, I love it. Homicidal grape jelly attacking toast? Yep.......yes, I did say yes. My wonderful brother left me this picture on my fridge. I will forever cherish it. Now the only question is what to put on his fridge?

Thundercats Ho!!!!!

You know what day it is? Yep, it's Friday. You know what that means? You got it, Friday Poll.
So I know you are sitting there at your computer thinking "Please, tell me what Friday poll is already. I can't take it anymore. The anticipation is killing me." Click the link to get to Fridaypoll Go read the blog post and vote but not before you read on and start to figure out who you will vote for.

Well, Hold your breath. Make a wish. Count to three....
Come with me, and you'll be, in a world of pure Friday poll.
Take a look and you'll see Into your Thundercat-ation.

Yes, Friday Poll is best Thundercats member so lets get to it.

Wilykit & Wilykat
These guys belong together. I don't remember these guys doing anything but being lazy, screwing up, being know-it-alls and riding their spaceboards. They were annoying little brats and are far far from being the best Thundercat. Even as a kid I hated these guys. Hey kit & kat, you are stranded on a planet far away from anything you know. How about helping out every so often?

Snarf
Snarf's not really a Thundercat so he shouldn't get any consideration but I thought I'd mention him anyway. First, Snarf's real name is Osbert, Snarf is the name of his species. Snarf was Lion-O's nanny on Thundera and clearly has issues with Lion-O growing up rapidly. He wants to treat him like a kid even though Lion-O is older and now the leader of the Thundercats. So basically Snarf can get annoying worrying about him.

Cheetara
Cheetara ran fast, really fast. She fought with her staff and was able to sense when the other Thundercats were in trouble. Cheetara fought just as hard as the rest of the Thundercats, something you didn't see from female characters much during that time. She had grit and moxie and I can appreciate that.
Tygra
Tygra was more the brains of the Thundercats. He was a scientist and designed the Cat's Lair. Tygra wielded a bolo whip which could turn him invisible. I remember Tygra being the voice of reason a lot, kinda the Thundercats moral compass. While every group needs someone like that it did make him tentative at times.
Panthro
Panthro fixed and drove the Thundercats vehicles. He fought with laser shooting nunchuks which is pretty bad ass. While extremely strong, Panthro could be a bit of a hot head. That got him into trouble a couple times. He charged into a couple fights with Mumm-Ra when he shouldn't have. He was very dependable and loyal to the Thundercats but again his temper, don't get Panthro mad!

Lion-O
Lion-O is the Lord of the Thudercats. Lion-O  and the rest of the Thundercats were put in suspension capsules by Jaga on their trip to third earth to prevent them from aging. Lion-O's capsule failed and did not stop the aging process so Lion-O has the body of an adult but the mind of a child. Having Jaga's guidance, Jaga's dead at this point so it's his spirit, Lion-O learns lessons and matures as the show moves along.
Lion-O has the Sword of Omens, fortified with sight beyond sight, and the enchanted claw shield at his side. That claw shield always confused me as a kid. How did it stay on? He put it on his hip and it just stuck. Did the Thundercats have Velcro? And lets be honest, who didn't want a Sword of Omens as a kid?

So who is the best?
That's a good questions and I don't have the answer. I thought I knew before sitting down at the computer but what I realized is there really is no clear "best" Thundercat. All of them are flawed and all of them are awesome...except Kit & Kat, they suck and they know it.

Panthro was strong but had a temper. Tygra was smart but sometimes too meek. Cheetara has incredible grit but she was no Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. Yeah, I'm jumping shows but it's true. Lion-O had the sword, had the title of leader but damn if he wasn't a whiny piece of shit sometimes. So yeah, I dunno. I guess this is what Friday Poll is for.

Hey Storm, stop waking up my son.

A pretty good storm just came through the area and with it some crazy lightning. I wish the pictures were better but this is what I got.

The storm woke up my son and now he keeps getting up. I really do love storms but since having kids I'd rather they just stay away exactly for this reason. The storms gone but now the kids awake.....and its 1 o'clock in the morning. Hopefully he goes back to sleep so I can get to sleep. Wish me luck.

So this is for comparison.

Damn you vending machine!

I was sitting in my office and had this horrible craving for apple juice. I don't know why, all I know is I needed it. So I wandered over to Mr. Vending Machine, usually a good friend of mine, and perfect they had apple cranberry juice. Not exactly what I wanted but it was fine.

But then I noticed something and it wasn't very fine, not very fine at all!

The juice had expired over two months ago. Seriously, what the hell juice gods? You cant tempt me with your apple juice goodness and then take it away so quickly. That's not fair. Well, I guess when you wield the power of all things juice you can do pretty much anything you want. Juice gods, whatever I did to upset you I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry.

Soccer time again. Part 2

So yes, some of you may have seen this picture already but I can't help it. I love this picture and it fits the theme of the day.

Today was Amelie's very first soccer practice. Today was also my very first practice as assistant coach of one of my kids teams. Starting Friday I will run the practices alone for a couple weeks. I was super excited and pretty nervous.

To be honest I know very little about soccer. I watch it, I play FIFA 20-whatever but how much do I really know about soccer? Enough to coach? Are the other parents gonna look at me like "Who is this idiot?" Are the kids just going to run in different directions having me running all over the field just to get them lined up? Can I really do this?

Well the answer is yes....so long as the team is a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds. I quickly realized I'm not there to pump great soccer knowledge into these kids heads but to show them how to kick a ball straight. The parents were happy that their kids were running around in the sun having fun. I'm pretty sure some of the parent were just happy that I was doing it and not them. The kids were great and seemed to have fun. Today was good but I expect Friday to be better. I'm excited to be a part of my girls team. I think she's happy I'm there too. I realized today this is possible, I can do this and that makes me very happy!

It's soccer time again

So with vacation behind me and the t-ball season a distant memory I turn my attention once again toward soccer. Yes, today was Olivia's first practice for fall outdoor soccer. Not only is Olivia playing soccer but Amelie starts soccer tomorrow too. Yep, I have one 6 year old and one 4 year old in soccer. That's a lot of running in circles to watch.

And now for some exciting news! All you people are not just reading Mothra04's blog. You are reading Mothra04's, Assistant Coach to his 4 year old daughter's soccer team, blog. Yes, I am an assistant coach now and I expect you all to address me as Coach from now on, got it? Good.

I'm super excited to be helping out. I know its gonna be crazy and starting Friday I have to run some practices on my own. Nine 4 year olds, a soccer field and a ball....I'm scared! It's gonna be great fun.

lingonberries, lingonberries, lingonberries!

My last great meal of vacation was swedish meatballs and lingonberries. I love lingonberries, just love them and yes I will marry them if that's what you're thinking.

So vacation's over. I'm sure I'll post some fabulous pictures this week but not today...or tomorrow. I need time to get them on the computer and stuff. I've got some possibly exciting news....well exciting to me at least in the next couple days. Stay tuned!

I'm sorry old friend

Oh hey, its you. How are you old friend? I know, I know, I don't spend enough time with you. You are completely correct. Well, that changes today. Guess what? I got you a gift. Yeah, a new lens cover! Oh, no thanks necessary. Don't worry about it, we are gonna need it. I got plans for us, big plans. Yeah, the big plans are more pics of the kids but, but, but maybe a cloud here and there too.

Kids & Phones

This is what I found in my photos after letting my girls play with my phone. I have no idea how they got my son to sit long enough to take the picture. The one of my daughter looks like it was taken when she was swimming. My phone in the hands of a 6 year old so close to water makes me nervous even now.

I choose you Poke-O!

I never thought I'd see the day but here it is. Disney Princess toys, go jump in that big brown bin. We wont be needing you anymore. Just like that Disney Princesses are out and Pokemon is in, at least in this household and I couldn't be happier.

Really, Pokemon is the new hot thing but this all started a few months ago watching old Voltron episodes. It kinda blew my kids away and quickly their preference in cartoons changed. They liked the action, drama and comedy of Voltron more than the Disney stuff. Old Voltron led to watching new Voltron which led to getting excited for new Thundercats. My girls just recently got hooked on Pokemon and getting some toys cemented their love. Now we have Poke battles in the house instead of princess tea parties, I'm so ok with this.
