I'm not ready for it to be over

Vacation's over but I'm not ready to let it go quite yet. I'm posting some of the highlights. Maybe I'll trick myself into thinking I'm still there.

Pizza at Wild Tomato!
Crawfishing with hot dogs.
Buffalo on the beach.

So much mini golfing and so many cows/bulls.

Back to vacation pictures

I did some geocaching while on vacation. The second cache I found had a fun Vikings surprise and led me to a beautiful view. Very cool cache.

Fishing fun

I only went fishing once while on vacation but it was wonderful. I love fishing. It's so quiet, so calm. It doesn't really matter if you catch anything, it is nice though. We went about an hour before sunset and stayed till it was dark. We were told that's when the fish were biting. The kids caught a bunch of little fish and I got a baby bass. I really wish I could do this more.

Beercation

Vacation is over. Back to work tomorrow. Booooooooo and no I'm not saying Booo-urns. I'm going to post a bunch of pictures from vacation this week. Tonight is a bunch of different beers we tried on vacation. New Glarus rocks my face off. Spotted Cow is my favorite they offer. So check back tomorrow for some more fun.

I found it, I found it!

After a couple failed attempts I finally found my first cache of vacation. It was attached to a bench with a great view. A couple steps towards the beach and the view was even better.

Oh the fish boil was sooo good....

If you've never had fish boil before I think you need to find one this weekend and have it. I love fish boil and it's so basic, so simple. As far as I can tell here are the steps to a good fish boil. First, fisherman goes out to catch the fish while you are still snoring away in your bed. Next, restaurant gets out a really big pot or two and gets some water boiling. Then, restaurant put fish, potatoes & onions in the pot and boils it all together. Restaurant then takes that goodness out puts some butter on it, plates it and puts it in front of you. Last step, you eat.

Ahhh, vacation. I wish you and I were still buddies. We went out with the kids one night for dinner and had fish boil. For me there is nothing better than fresh fish. I'll take good fish over a steak any day. So eating this is like heaven for me. I wish I were better at cooking so I could do this at some, on a smaller scale of course.

My girls first sunset

If you've been reading the blog lately you know I just got back from vacation about a week ago. We packed the family up and went north to Door County, Wisconsin for two weeks. If you know me then this doesn't surprise you. I have been going up to Door County my whole life. I have memories as a kid, teen and adult from Door County. It's a place I truly love. I love it so much that when I met my wife I took her up there for our first vacation. We eventually dragged a hundred-ish people up north and got married in Door County. We've met all sorts of people we kept in touch with. Artists, chefs and even real estate agents (Our wedding planner). They have become friends and we look forward to seeing them every year. They know our kids, even have a dish named after our oldest daughter on the menu at one restaurant. We love it and feel like we are a part of our favorite vacation town. Our kids have caught the Door County bug too. I have a feeling we are going to be going up there for a long, long time.

I was able to post a picture here and there while up in Door County but I'd like to go back and post some more pictures the next couple of days. It's going to be fun for me going through these pictures. I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I do. It would be easy to go through these day by day but I think I'd rather just pick a moment or event from the vacation kinda at random.

So I'm going to start with a night about three days into the vacation. I took my girls to the beach to watch the sunset while the boys stayed back at the room with my wife. It was the first sunset for my girls so it was kinda special. We just kicked back and enjoyed. All of the pictures are the actual pictures, no filters. It really did change colors as much as the pictures show. So...enjoy!

lingonberries, lingonberries, lingonberries!

My last great meal of vacation was swedish meatballs and lingonberries. I love lingonberries, just love them and yes I will marry them if that's what you're thinking.

So vacation's over. I'm sure I'll post some fabulous pictures this week but not today...or tomorrow. I need time to get them on the computer and stuff. I've got some possibly exciting news....well exciting to me at least in the next couple days. Stay tuned!

Fish Boil

I love fish boil. Love, love, love it. It's so basic. Boil a fish, boil a potato, boil an onion, cover in butter and you have fish boil!
