Best Hostess Snack

Well, yet again Fridaypoll has inspired me to write a blog post. Today's topic is best hostess snack. I know you have an opinion so after reading my post and realizing I'm right and you're wrong, unless you agree with me, go vote at FRIDAYPOLL!

Ok, best Hostess snack. The options are Ho-Ho's, Honey Buns, Twinkies, Cupcakes, Fruit Pies, Suzy-Q's and Sno Balls.

Ho-Ho's

I'm going to be very honest and completely biased. Ho-Ho's are by far the best Hostess snack out there. They are the perfect combination of cake, cream filling and chocolate coating. There is just the right amount of cream filling to cake, perfectly proportioned. I've never come across a dry Ho-Ho either, they are consistently wonderful.

Honey Buns

While the Hostess Honey Bun is tasty, it doesn't feel like a snack. It feels more like I should be having some coffee reading the paper with my Honey Bun. That's just not fun. The lack of chocolate is also holding it back from ever being the best snack. If you aren't chocolate you better be bringing something great to the table. The Honey Bun does not do that.

Twinkies

Twinkies are classic. I can't complain too much about them. It's like complaining about your grandma. It's nice, you love it but there is no wow factor with a Twinkie. It's possible to get a dry Twinkie every so often and that's no good. I think there could be a bit more cream too. Twinkies are good, and who doesn't love Twinkie the Kid, but not Ho-Ho good.

Cupcakes

This is a tough one. The original chocolate cupcake is good. Probably could use a bit more filling but still it's good. Where the cupcake shines though is in the orange cupcakes. The orange cupcake is absolutely wonderful and makes the cupcake a contender for best Hostess snack. I'd still give the nod to the Ho-Ho but it's very close.

Fruit Pies

Fruit pies can be very good but they can also be very bad. Sometimes there just isn't enough filling. Sometimes you get the apple pie hoping it will finally be good, it never is. Selection is the key to the fruit pie. Cherry is the best. Actually, I take that back. The absolute best was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pie they had when I was a kid. A pudding pie with a green wonderful coating. I loved those, they don't make them anymore. Lemon and chocolate are pretty good too. All the others except for apple are ok at best. Apple though is horrible every time. Stupid apple pie, just go away.

Suzy-Q's

Suzy-Q's can be damn good but you have to be in the mood for them. It's not an every time kinda snack. You get a dry one every once in a while and that's disappointing. Suzy-Q's are too hit or miss to be the best snack.

Sno Balls

If you like coconut, you probably like Sno balls. Everybody else is picking something else, probably the Ho-Ho's. I just can't give the nod as best snack to a coconut based treat. Sorry Sno Balls, you were doomed from the beginning.
