Watching the Hawks game last night I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this. I had to take a picture of it. With the way Versteeg's playing lately, this feels appropriate. Just Versteeg being Versteeg.

Game 7

So this is it. Blackhawks. Redwings. Game 7. I woke up wanting to barf, I still do.

This game is the last gasp of a great rivalry. Next year the Wings will be in the Eastern Conference. It wont be the same. You'll still hear Detroit Sucks at the UC, for a couple years at least, but the hate between these teams will fade. It's inevitable.

Not tonight though. Tonight is all about the hate, the need to win. This series has reminded Hawks fans what a rivalry is. Vancouver? Give me a break, that's nothing. I've hated the Wings my whole life. Every ounce of my being hates the Wings, the Hawks need to win this. No way we can lose this to the Wings. Can't think about that. So I'm heading out to the UC now for one last tilt with the De-toilet Scum. I still wanna barf. LET GO HAWKS!

First nachos of the year!

Oh yeah, there was a hockey game too. The Blackhawks first home game of the season had the Hawks battling the Blues. A really good game between two good teams. The Hawks won 3-2 and the everybody went home happy....well, not the Blues. So the Hawks are 3-0 and on a roll. Lets hope they keep it up. Every point is important in a 48 game season. Next up is Dallas on Thursday.

It's damn good to have hockey back. It seems like its been forever. No matter how pissed I was, once they laced up the skates I was ready to go. Good first game for the Hawks. I'd like to see them keep it up and blast the Yotes tomorrow night.

So I gotta get my practice in.  Let's Go Hawks! Oh god, what are you doing Bickell! Detroit Sucks! You're worthless Sopel. Luongo, Luongo, Luongo. Let's Go Hawks!

Just cancel it already

I'm an optimist when it comes to hockey. I really am. When the Hawks are struggling, I'm the first to say they are about to break out. Down 3-0 in a playoff series? The Blackhawks can come back! When the Hawks sign a bunch of lower tier players, I see potential. It's just in my nature to be positive about hockey. Even now I'm still an optimist about hockey, just not the NHL.

So the NHL and NHLPA, the players, are meeting with an arbitrator tomorrow. Great, whatever. I'm tired of this lockout. It really pissed me off. There is no reason for it. Both sides sat around when they should have been working it out. Now we are left without the NHL heading into December. The problem is I don't care anymore. Me saying I don't care about hockey should terrify the NHL and NHLPA. I was pissed off, I've moved on. I don't want a season this year. I want them to cancel it. I think that's whats going to happen anyway so might as well get it over with. Put all the fans out of their misery. Even if they worked it out, I don't want a season starting in January or February. The season would be a joke. Cramming in 4 games a week just to get the fans money.

Like I said, I'm a hockey optimist. So even if the NHL and the NHLPA are determined to permanently damage their relationship with their fan base, there is other hockey to support. I think I'm going to take my girls to a Wolves game soon. It's gonna be cool digging out my Chris Marinucci IHL jersey and heading over to the Allstate Arena.

I won't lie. When the NHL comes back, I'll be there at the UC cheering on the Hawks but it won't be the same for a long time. I doubt I'll want to get that shirt or jersey or whatever crap I bought because it had the Hawks logo on it. The Blackhawks meant more to me than they probably should have. That's changed now but I guess that's what two lockouts can do. It hurts the NHL's core, the die hard fans. Time will tell if the NHL can recover from this. I hope so.

Hawks beat Caps!

I went to the Hawks game last night and watched the Blackhawks dominate the Capitols for most of the night. A solid game for the Hawks as every point is crucial at this time of year. But the Blackhawks win was not the story of the night.

Last night my lovely wife went to the game with me. I don't think she's been to a game in 5-6 years. She's never been to a game in my seats. We used to go to Chicago Wolves games all the time. Karen knows the game of hockey better than most of the guys at the United Center so it was fun having her at my side. We watched the Hawks win, ate nachos and had a great night.

What came in the mail today? My Chicago Blackhawks season ticket holder gift! Yeah! So this year it's two cool books and a print of Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita. Thanks Blackhawks! Lets Go Hawks!

Big win for the Blackhawks tonight. It felt like a playoff game at the United Center. Tons of energy in the crowd. Still lots of hockey left in the season but it's nice to see the Hawks win this one.

Hawks taking care of the Oilers

I went to see the Hawks take on the Oilers last night. The Hawks got out to an early lead and never looked back. It never really felt like the Hawks would lose. They controlled the play way too much for the Oilers to get back in it. Edmonton also looked pretty tired. The game started at 6, I love early starts on Sunday. I got home before 9 and with enough time to watch The Walking Dead. Blackhawks win and The Walking Dead....Damn good night.
